SVNEATR- Chinook
Hello HellHounds and Today we are reviewing the latest album by Canadian Black Metal Band SVNEATR.
Your in for a whirlwind on this one HellHounds. Let's start with the stand out tracks on this album. The standout tracks are as follows :
. The Wind Stirs
. Mourning Sun
. Lavender
. The veins of the earth.
I'm going to.take you through just the standout tracks and then give you a little overall review of the album at the end.
. The Wind Stirs is the opening track on Chinook it starts with a very thrash metal sounding intro but then moves in with the Black Metal. This song has a duration of 5 minutes 24 seconds. I liked this song it has some thrash elements mixed with all the black metal goodness.
. Mourning Sun.
Again some thrash elements come back here with the guitar solo sounding very thrash. This track also has a melodic black metal feel to it aswell. Vocals are brilliant with that spiteful hateful sound you want with Black Metal. This song has a duration of 6 minutes 49 seconds.
. Lavender
This is where things get really interesting. This track brings you your final bit of brutal black metal before things start to get more melodic. There are some clear vocal bits in the track following this one but its only a small portion and does not hinder the rest of the Black Metal Sound. I love the opening riff on this one such a chunky sounding riff really makes you wanna just bang your head almost uncontrollably. This song has duration of 8 minutes 23 seconds it is one of the longer songs on the album.
. The Veins of the earth
This is where the last three tracks become melodic in nature. Veins of the earth starts off with a Melodic riff. The clear vocals come in on this track aswell. This song has a duration of 9 minutes it is the longest song on the album. This is definitely one of the more diverse tracks on Chinook. There is even a blues sounding solo on this track.
Those are the standout tracks on that album.
Overall the album is fantastic. I love the amount diversity and the way the play around with different elements throughout the whole album.
Chinook is SVNEATR'S second studio album and is by far their best.
I would recommend this album to people who really love diverse black albums with quite long songs.
I rate this album a 4.8 out 5.
This has been my review of SVNEATR- Chinook.
