Darkthrone - Eternal Hails

Hello HellHounds and Today we are reviewing the latest album by Black Metal Legends DarkThrone.

I'm not going to go into much detail about who Darkthrone are because if your reading this you most likely already know who they are , But for those of you who are new to Black Metal i will tell you a bit  about Darkthrone.

Darkthrone are a Black Metal Band from Norway.  Darkthrone formed in the Late 80s around the same time as Mayhem and were apart of the controversial era of Mayhem.
You probably know them from their most Famous record Transylvanian Hunger. Darkthrone are one of the most prolific bands of the Black Metal Genre.

Ok so with that out of the way it is time to get into the review.
Eternal Hails is the latest album by Darkthrone it has 5 songs and a duration of around 42 minutes. Eternal Hails was released on 25th June 2021.

The track list is as follows :
1. His Masters Voice
2. Hate Cloak
3. Wake Of The Awakened
4. Voyage to a Northpole Adrift
5. Lost arcane city of uppakra

I wanted to love this album but unfortunately it just didn't do it for me , however it did have its moments.
The guitar work on this album is brilliant as usual with Darkthrone. I felt the vocals could've been better and well some of the  other elements in this album for e.g. the ambient parts  just didn't work.

It is no secret that I prefer the old school 90s Darkthrone , however I do appreciate some of their new stuff aswell.

For me on this album there was only 1 standout track which is : Hate Cloak.

Hate Cloak opens with a Ripping Guitar riff that is sure to make you head move and leans more toward their old school sound with how cold and dark this song sounds.
I also love how they kept the cave echo on the vocals throughout this whole but particularly in this song just as they would have back in the 90s.

I really like the length of the songs and the album a 42 minute duration is pretty decent.
Each song ranges from around 7 to 10 minutes.

I was just expecting a little better from these guys so hopefully with their next album let's take it back to the 90s sound.

Overall I do think this album could've been better but it is still worth a listen.
I rate this album a 5/10

This has been my review of Darkthrone - Eternal Hails.
Until Next Time HellHounds
Stay Black , Stay Evil , Stay Metal
