Dødsdrift - Ødins

Hello HellHounds and Today we are reviewing the latest album by German Black Metal Band Dødsdrift.

Dødsdrift are a Black Metal Band from Northern Germany. They released their first Album back in 2019. This is all that is really known about them as they tend to keep things pretty mysterious.

Ødins is their second full length album it features 10 Tracks and has a total duration of around 41 minutes 43 seconds. Ødins was released on October 15th 2021.

I really did enjoy this album , the placement of the songs was perfectly thought out Dødsdrift chose the correct song to open and close the album with and all the songs in between were also perfectly placed. 

The pacing of the album is great as it does not feel like it goes for the 41 minutes as most songs on the album range from 3:20 - 4:50.

I do unfortunately have one negative critique to make and it is this - unfortunately it is hard to distinguish when a new song starts because a lot of the songs do sound very similar. I would've liked more variation between the songs.

Aside from that though the album is brilliant. 

I do also love how Ødins has this very melodic sound scale going on with the guitars.

Here are the standout tracks on the album as follows :

3. RuB - opens with this beautiful Melodic guitar riff and is one of the songs on the album that has some variation to it. This would be my favourite song on the album.

1. Fährde - is the perfect song to open the album with as it really does give you a taste of what this band is truly capable of.

5. Laere - another banger on the album. Starts of with a more traditional sounding Black Metal guitar riff which is why I would also have to put this equal with RuB as my favourite song on the album.

Overall Ødins is a meldodic filled album with lots of melodic guitar scales , beautifully done Vocals and fantastic drum work. Ødins is a meldodic black metal fans wet dream.

A really enjoyable album.
