ARDE - Ancestral Cult
Hello HellHounds and Today we are reviewing the latest album by Raw Atmospheric Black Metal Band ARDE.
ARDE are a Raw Atmospheric Black Metal Band hailing from Berlin , Germany. Arde have 0ne previous release before Ancestral Cult.
Ancestral Cult is the latest release from ARDE it was released 28th October 2021. Ancestral Cult features 5 tracks and has a total duration of around 36 minutes 27 Seconds.
The theme and message behind Ancestral Cult is one I am quite familiar with myself. Coming from a Scandinavian Ancestral Background I have some deep rooted knowledge on the goddesses referred to in this album. Within Norse Paganism and Norse Culture back in ancient times there were many Cults dedicated to the goddesses such as Freya, Ostara and even Saga herself.
ARDE'S Ancestral Cult speaks alot about these Cults and the struggles of women during these ancient times such situations are referred to in the Poetic Edda poems of Ancient Scandinavia , like the story of Frigg and Baldur. Frigg walks across all the nine realms to ask everything on the earth to not ever harm her son Baldur but then when she sees a mistletoe tree she over looks it because it looks to young or harmless to hurt her son. Long story short with the mistletoe being the only thing that can harm Baldur Loki gets word of this and forces hoedr one of Baldurs brothers to pierce Baldur with Mistletoe and Baldur dies.
As you can imagine Frigg is very very upset.
I feel deeply connected to the message behind Ancestral Cult.
I really love the rawness of the vocals and well the overall production it gives it this really organic sound.
Here is the tracklist for Ancestral Cult as follows :
1. The Birth Portal
2. Halls Of Ostara
3. Síle
4. The Birch
5. Vesica Piscis
Now for the stand out tracks :
1. The Birth Portal
2. Halls Of Ostara
4. The Birch
The Vigorous production showcases its dynamism through the Heavy Atmosphere of Cascading Riffs bursting with the urgence and virulence of an Avalanche with a throbbing pulse of rhythmic fierceness.
Ancestral Cult is a very intense listen i couldn't take the frown off of my face for the entirety of the album because those riffs and vocals were just too good. In terms of track 3 I would've liked that as the intro to the album because I feel it really would've set the mood and scene for what was to come.
Overall and absolute fantastic album and definitely worth a listen. I would say this would be one of the best Atmospheric Balck Metal Albums 2021.
Keep up the great work ARDE.
I rate this album a 9/10
This has been my review of Ancestral Cult by ARDE.
Until Next Time HellHounds
